GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, a familiar card for $200 less – PC Perspective

God, it’s full of SKUs

Today we meet NVIDIA’s RTX 4080 SUPER, a card very similar to the original RTX 4080 but with an MSRP of US$1000, which is $200 less than the original released. The RTX 4080 SUPER reference looks a bit better on paper, 2550 MHz GPU Boost vs 2505 and 1438 MHz memory vs 1400 MHz and with 512 more cores for a total of 10240. Other than those minor bumps AD103 is still the same as the original RTX 4080 was in his heart. Sebastian’s review showed a 2% performance increase on the RTX 4080 SUPER compared to the original, which isn’t terribly impressive. Really, this launch is all about shaving $200 off the obnoxious pricing that the RTX 4080 has.

If you’re wondering if there’s a little more headroom, considering the staggering number of SKUs below, the impressive Zotac GeForce RTX 4080 Super AMP Extreme Airo has a 2610MHz Boost right out of the box. With a little extra power and work, TechPowerUp was able to get the card to an average of 2986 MHz core and 1608 MHz memory in-game. This jump helps performance a bit, about a 5% boost, but it does nothing to close the gap with the RTX 4090. The thing is, this card is an extra $100, which is hard to justify spending on a so little push. Again, maybe you need to add Zotac RGBs?
