AMD EXPO is traveling again

The new Ryzen chips have gone from my previously preferred DDR4-3600 to DDR5-6000, and that’s exactly the frequency of the G.SKILL Flare X5 DIMMs for review on TechPowerUp. Timings are a decently tight 32-38-38-96 when set using EXPO, which is good considering there’s only one profile.

The kit loses out to similarly timed DIMMs that weren’t solely focused on CAS latency, as 96 tRAS really affects bandwidth in synthetic benchmarks. You’ll be happy to hear that it has virtually no effect on game performance, however, only benchmarks really see a difference.

There are challenges to overclocking DDR5 on the new platform, but if you’re interested in trying, you should be able to limit the timings, as TPU managed in their review.
