SSD

Every bit as fast as it is high

The CORSAIR MP700 PRO is a PCIe 5.0 SSD that uses the Phison E26 controller and integrated DRAM, with 4GB in the 2TB model and 2GB for the 1TB version. The packaging says the drive can do sequential reads of up to 12,400MB/s and sequential writes of up to 11,800MB/s, and FPS Reviews’ tests show that’s no boast. The MP700 PRO was able to achieve these transfer speeds, and indeed in every test CORSAIR’s new drive outperformed any of the other models tested. However, this great performance comes with a side effect.

The 2TB model is rated at 11.5W, and the 1TB is slightly lower at 11W. These power consumption numbers mean that CORSAIR is using active cooling on the drive, along with a towering heatsink. You could try running the drive with the heatsinks that came with your motherboard, but that can lead to thermal throttling. There will also be a line of MP700 PRO Hydro X drives that are water cooled, which should definitely keep the drives cool.

Check out the full review and see if you’re willing to make room for the MP700 PRO.
