Falcon Northwest Talon 2023 Review – With Intel Core i7-14700K – PC Review

Written By Adarsh Shankar Jha

The Talon starts at $3643 USD and can be adjusted with your choice of AMD or Intel processors on desktop and workstation platforms. The price includes what is arguably the highest quality mid-tower case in the world, a special design that is worth a little change, and every part of the case is top notch. Falcon Northwest will never be a budget brand, but if you can afford it, there’s no greater pleasure than unzipping one for yourself and seeing just how premium a gaming PC can be, inside and out. Even the packaging is second to none.

At this point the review sounds like an advertisement, so I’ll stop gushing.

Bottom line, the Talon is a near flawless system and definitely worth your money – although it is quite expensive compared to a DIY build. If I had to nitpick, it would be that the 80mm intake fan on the back interferes with potential expansion, although I understand why it’s there. It’s optional, so if you’re going to populate extra PCI-E slots it doesn’t need to interfere, and I’d guess that, aside from the GPU, the majority of ATX systems don’t have PCI-E expansion cards. I’m the odd one that still uses things like PCIe audio and video capture cards, but external solutions dominate the market.

If I were to buy a prefab system right now, it would be the Talon. I loved FragBox and am (obviously) pretty excited about Falcon Northwest as a company based on my interactions with both people and hardware. The only way they can convince me to deviate from the Talon is to bring back the Mach V. Preferably in beige.
