A recent report by Kotaku claimed that GTA 6 release date was originally slated for sometime in the 1st quarter of 2025, but the game may face a delay to 2026. The news caused publisher Take-Two Interactive’s stock to plummet 5.2%, but Jason Bloomberg’s Schreier claims the report was exaggerated, while other sources in the know have pointed out that GTA 6 was never confirmed for the first quarter of 2025 in the first place.

There is still a possibility that the release date of GTA 6 will go away from 2025

After the Kotaku article was published, several well-known insiders, including Tom Henderson, disputed the report, with some criticizing it as pure speculation. In his article on BloombergSchreier avoided criticizing his former employer, but said the report was “soft and full of caveats.”

Schreier pointed out that games often go through internal delays during development, and that Rockstar Games only promised a general release window of 2025 in the GTA 6 trailer. And while it’s still possible the game could slip to 2026, for now there is no indication that this is the case.

When contacted for comment on the latest rumor, Schrier said he was “met mostly with shrugs” from Rockstar Games employees.
