According to our sources, the new Intel 500 series motherboards and processors Rocket Lake it won’t arrive until March 2021, months after Ryzen solutions based on the Zen 3 architecture.

For a long time and especially in the last few months, there have been rumors about the possible arrival of the new 11th generation Intel Core “Rocket Lake” processors aimed at the desktop sector by the end of the year.

Why are you late ?

The launch of the 10th generation Comet Lake in May did not favor this timetable. Because it’s too tight. Many predicted the launch of Rocket Lake processors around January 2021, during CES 2021. But finally, according to what Videocardz and HDTecnologia are reporting, we will have to wait until March 2021 for a new series of Intel processors that intended for computers. Office.

Rocket Lake, already planned for some time, will be compatible with current 400 series motherboards with LGA 1200 socket. These 14nm processors support PCI Express 4.0 and a completely renewed architecture. These new processors will likely be an improvement on Willow Cove, as they are codenamed Cypress Cove. They will feature GPUs based on the Xe architecture. Therefore, Intel will bring Tiger Lake features to office automation, with performance improvements.

The characteristics of Rocket Lake processors

The Rocket Lake processors fitted to these 400 series motherboards will allow you to use a PCIe 4.0 SSD thanks to the direct connection to the processor, but there will also be a new series of 500 series motherboards (Z590, H570, B560, H510 and W580 ) intended for these 11th generation processors. As for the Rocket Lake series of processors, there is no exact information at the moment, but it seems that the offer will stop at 8 cores and 16 threads with a TDP of 125W. They can however support higher boost frequencies using the algorithm Turbo Boost Max 3.0. The operating system’s thread manager will be able to dispatch a maximum number of tasks.

Current 10th generation Core i9 processors have up to 10 cores and 20 threads. Only Core i7s have 8 cores and 16 threads. The release of Rocket Lake is finally pushed back to March 2021. Intel seems to be avoiding a direct confrontation with AMD’s Zen3-based processors.
