iOS 17.4 code may have accidentally exposed the new iPad Pro camera feature

Apple may be on its way to fixing the weirdest problem with its top-of-the-line iPad Pro.

As it stands, the iPad Pro 2022’s front-facing camera sits at the top of the device when viewed in landscape mode. In other words, turning the iPad sideways creates a weird angle for video calls.

However, according to 9 to 5 Macsome stray code found in the iOS 17.4 beta update suggests that Apple could fix this soon with the next-generation iPad model.

To be more specific, there is language in the update that specifically refers to placing an iPad in landscape (horizontal) mode in order to set up Face ID, which is not possible on any current iPad.

When setting up Face ID, the iPad must be in landscape orientation with the camera at the top of the screen. Once set up, Face ID works in portrait and landscape orientation,” one of the messages says, according to 9to5Mac.

Reports suggest that Apple may launch a new iPad Pro in 2024 with, among other things, shiny new OLED displays.

Of possible that these new iPads are the ones mentioned in this code, but we won’t know for sure until the devices are in our hands.
