According to reports, it’s almost the new iPad season.
In his last Power On Newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a prominent Apple forecaster, doubled down on an earlier report, stating that Apple will release new iPads by the end of March. Beyond that release window, Gurman added that this could be the “biggest refresh ever” for Apple’s tablets.
As for what this means specifically, we only have a few scraps of information to go on at this point. Gurman has said since last year that Apple plans to make 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pros with new M3 chips and OLED displays for the first time. There may also be a new 10.9-inch iPad Air and a larger 12.9-inch Air, which would put it on par with the Pro. However, these will be possible not have OLED screens.
We could also see the new iPad Pros lose their current camera orientation (the front-facing camera is on top if you’re currently holding the iPad Pro vertically). Some stray code found in iOS 17.4 pretty much confirms that Apple plans to place the front-facing camera on the larger side of the tablet to make it more conducive to video calling. We may also see a new Magic Keyboard accessory, per Gurman.
If you’ve been waiting for a new iPad upgrade, you might not have to wait much longer.
