Platformers have always been designed for players who love pain. Over the years, we’ve gone from throwing cute animals in mortal danger to… well… throwing chunks of sentient meat in mortal danger. The most noticeable change, however, is that they’ve gone from the mildly burdensome difficulty level we were all used to as kids, to the perfectly twitchy, pinpoint accuracy required to even have a chance in modern titles. This is a genre that has seriously grown and players can’t get enough of it. So let’s combine said cute fluffy creatures with the evil difficulty that today’s climate calls for. What do we get? Carpal tunnel! Oh and Rift Racoonthe game we will see together today.
Rift Racoon is set to bounce onto your screens tomorrow, (May 12) for the princely sum of $4.99. If you have a console and love a good platformer, you’ll have the opportunity to invest in this one. Rift Racoon becomes available digitally for Switch, PS4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S/X so literally, no one is left out.
So, Rift Racoon is an intense precision rig featuring a lost raccoon named Tire. What’s particularly cool about this missing mammal is that it has teleportation powers. These skills allow him to warp through obstacles and large traps. You’ll need to make the most of these abilities if you want to make it through the 50 cleverly designed levels that Rift Racoon has to offer.
Tire he’s a very special raccoon, but he’s still a raccoon. That said, aside from his cool warping abilities, he’ll need to rely on his more natural talents to climb walls and jump over deadly spikes. I think I’ve made it pretty clear that the levels are out to kill you, but did I mention the psychotic robot? I did not do it; Yes, a mysterious mech is chasing you, so you’ll have to avoid that as well.
Rift Racoon it’s not going to be an easy ride. The levels you’ll face are designed to tax even the most skilled platformer. That said, you can expect to die… a lot. Part of the fun will be trial and error as you jump right back into the action and hopefully learn from your mistakes. With controls that are easy to learn but hard to master, you should definitely turn up your game if you want to earn your stripes and get Tire out alive.
Rift Racoon it might be the next time you get swamped by platform junkies. If you really enjoy the pain of throwing a fuzzy new friend at pointy objects until you learn not to, this could be a fun and cheap way to do it.
